09 September 2024, Vancouver - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver successfully launched the 9th edition of Winter Escapade dubbed as True North Goes North on 28 August 2024.
As its theme suggests, this year’s Winter Escapade 9 tour package will bring participants to the prime locations in the northern region of the Philippines, with stops in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, as well as an optional tour of Baguio City.
Consul General Arlene T. Magno, in her welcome remarks, recalled her own memorable experiences when she joined the Winter Escapade last year. She added that this year’s itinerary was thoughtfully designed to offer every participant an extraordinary journey through the region’s most cherished landmarks, unforgettable cultural experiences and visits to the region’s hidden gems. Furthermore, she invited participants to explore Region 1’s iconic sites, savor local culinary delights, engage with the locals, and uncover unique stories for a deeper appreciation of this northern part of the region and the people who live there.
Mr. Jojo Clemente, Rajah Tours President and the ground tour operator in the Philippines, unveiled the Winter Escapade 9 tour package which included a variety of experiences for the history enthusiast, the nature lover, the foodie, and the explorer. This year’s itinerary curates the best of Laoag, Vigan, and La Union into one adventure-packed and enriching vacation experience.
This was followed by a virtual presentation from Philippine Tourism Director Soleil Tropicales and a DOT teaser video for Winter Escapade 9. Ms. Treenee Lopez, a Winter Escapade regular since 2014 provided a personal testimony of how her participation in the Winter Escapade allowed her to appreciate the beauty of the Philippines while having fun and creating new memories with fellow travelers.
Ms. Aileen Gabat of the Philippine Airlines concluded the presentation by announcing the discounted airfare rates exclusively offered to those who sign up for Winter Escapade 9.
During the program, attendees were also quizzed on some facts about the places and activities featured in Winter Escapade 9, and those who answered correctly were given Love the Philippines tote bags as prizes.
Winter Escapade 9: True North Goes North will take place in the Philippines on February 9 to 18 2025 to be led by the Department of Foreign Affairs, through its Foreign Service Posts in Canada, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism's Tourism Promotions Board and Rajah Tours.
