Vancouver, 25 February 2025 – In celebration of the National Arts Month, the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Vancouver organized an Art Workshop facilitated by Filipino-Canadian artist Charlie Frenal at the PCG Lobby on 22 February 2025.
The event brought together Consulate personnel and their children for a creative and engaging session aimed at fostering artistic expression and appreciation.
Participants were guided by Frenal in recreating a landscape sketch, allowing them to explore their creativity while following the artist’s guidance. While the foundational sketch remained the same, each participant brought their own unique interpretation to the piece, adding different colors, textures, and details that reflected their personal artistic styles.
The event was not only an artistic endeavor but also a meaningful cultural gathering that brought the Consulate family together to appreciate and celebrate Filipino heritage.
Charlie Frenal was born in the town of Polomolok, South Cotabato, Philippines. He and his family migrated to Canada in 2012. He is an architect by profession and a self-taught visual artist. Through his art, he tells stories that resonate deeply with the members of the Filipino community. END
