The Philippine Consulate General Attends the First Sinulog Celebration 2025

20 January 2025, Vancouver, BC. Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin was the guest of honor at the Sinulog 2025 Festival held on 18 January 2025 at the Saint Monica Parish Gym.

Around 350 Filipino-Canadians representing various Filipino community organizations and associations attended the event including Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Ms. Mable Elmore (Vancouver-Kensington) and Mr. Steve Kooner (Richmond-Queensborough).

Reverend Mark Bautista welcomed the guests with an opening prayer followed by the Sinulog dance by the Cebuano Society of BC to the delight of the crowd.

MLA Mable Elmore introduced Consul General Jamoralin who delivered the remarks. MLA Elmore is the first Filipino–Canadian elected as MLA in British Columbia.

In her opening remarks, Consul General Jamoralin shared two very important programs of the Consulate. The first is the PCG Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP) where she encouraged all guests to register to allow the Consulate to reach out to the community during emergencies and the second is the new online overseas voting system where she emphasized the important role of overseas Filipinos to the upcoming mid-term elections reminding everyone that is not enough to register but that pre-enrolling at the COMELEC Voting Portal is essential starting 10 March 2025.

The Sinulog 2025 event, organized by the Cebuano Society of BC headed by Mr. Antonio Ortega, was one of the biggest Sto Nino celebrations in British Columbia. END
