06 December 2023 – Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) actively engaged their counterparts across Canada while attending the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE) 2023 Conference held at the Vancouver Convention Center last week.
Two Philippine universities, the University of the Philippines Los Baños and the Romblon State University, were able to pen agreements with three British Columbian HEIs, the Kwantlen Polytechnic University, the Vancouver Island University and the Simon Fraser University at the sidelines of the conference. The agreements were general and non-binding in nature but represented their common desire to work closely together in promoting greater student mobility, internships, research and development, and faculty exchanges, among other collaborative projects.
The Manila Times College of Subic also signed an MOA with Fanshawe College in Ontario.
Led by Commissioner Marita Canapi of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education, a total of 17 presidents and representatives from 11 Philippine state universities and colleges from the Philippines were in Vancouver on 26-30 November for the CBIE 2023 and to conduct university visits. The Philippines had one of the biggest delegations at the annual conference, meant to provide a space for international education professionals from Canada and around the world to connect and be inspired.END
