VANCOUVER, 21 March 2025 – In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver hosted the event “An Afternoon with Filipino Women Entrepreneurs” on 19 March 2025. This event, held as part of the Consulate’s Gender and Development (GAD) program, brought together Filipino-Canadian women entrepreneurs to share their experiences, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities in entrepreneurship.
Consul General Gina Jamoralin opened the event with inspiring remarks, emphasizing the importance of empowering women in business and recognizing the invaluable contributions of Filipino-Canadian women to the economic and social landscape of British Columbia.
Following the remarks, the event’s moderator, Ms. Mylene Lim, led a thought-provoking discussion with the panel of resource speakers, namely Diane Silva of Cake it Easy, Bennet Ganata of Plato Filipino, and Jamie Hocson & Abigail Abalos of Nanay Kitchen.
They provided valuable insights on overcoming cultural barriers, accessing business resources, and balancing personal and professional responsibilities.
A Q&A session then allowed participants to seek advice and gain deeper perspectives from the panelists. Attendees actively engaged in discussions on resilience, business growth strategies, and the evolving role of women in the entrepreneurial landscape.
To recognize the invaluable contributions of the speakers and moderator, Consul General Jamoralin presented Certificates of Appreciation to each of them, expressing gratitude for their time, expertise, and commitment to inspiring the next generation of women entrepreneurs.
The event concluded with a networking session and refreshments, where participants had the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and explore potential collaborations. END
