13 July 2023, North Vancouver - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, led by Consul General Arlene T. Magno, joined the Filipino Community at the 2023 Philippine Days Summer Festival Formal Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 09 July 2023, at the Shipbuilders Square in North Vancouver.
The event opened with a short parade by different Filipino organizations, singing of the National Anthem and messages from various officials and guests. Member of Parliament-North Vancouver, Hon. Jonathan Wilkinson, represented the BC Government at the event.
In her remarks, Consul General Magno said that the Philippine Days Festival Society has always been one of the vital partners of the Consulate in celebrating Filipino culture, promoting a strong sense of community among Filipinos in BC and highlighting the many contributions of Filipino Canadians in Canada over many decades.
The festival was organized by the Philippine Days Festival Society led by its Managing Director Alvin Relleve. This is an annual 2-day celebration of the Filipino Canadian Community in a vibrant and festive “fiesta” atmosphere. The fair showcased cultural performances by Filipino celebrities and local artists as well as Filipino cuisine and artisan products. END
