30 April 2024, Vancouver BC – In celebration of the National Heritage Month, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver launched “Floral Abstractions,” Delia Laglagaron’s first solo exhibit, on 26 April 2024 at the Consulate premises.
Philippine Consul General Arlene T. Magno, in her opening remarks, underscored the Consulate’s commitment to promoting cultural exchange and nurturing the talents within the vibrant Filipino-Canadian community.
Ms. Laglagaron then shared her inspirations and the creative process behind her floral pieces, which seek to bridge her Filipino heritage with Canadian experience. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to showcase her artworks at the Consulate and invited her guests to journey with her on her first solo exhibit.
Artist Delia Laglagaron started painting at age 14. She trained and practiced as an architect and urban planner before immigrating to Canada in her twenties. She served over four decades of public service in Canada before revisiting her passion for painting upon her retirement.
The event was further enriched by a violin performance by Filipino group, Rosario Strings, setting a melodious backdrop for the attendees as they enjoyed refreshments and explored the art.
"Floral Abstractions" will remain open to the public until 30 June 2024. END
