“Diwa ng Pasko” Art Exhibit Launched in Vancouver

29 November 2023, Vancouver - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver launched on 29 November 2023 the art exhibit of Filipino-Canadian father-daughter duo, Reynato and Kaityn Pablo, entitled “Diwa ng Pasko,” which captured the essence of the Philippines' unique and festive Christmas traditions.

Consul General Arlene Magno, in her remarks, commended the artists for serving as cultural ambassadors through their artworks. Meanwhile, Reynato and Kaitlyn shared their insights into their creative process and the inspiration behind their art pieces.

The curated paintings transported guests to the enchanting streets of the Philippines during Christmas. Intricate parols, balikbayan boxes, Filipino Christmas delicacies and joyful gatherings were skillfully depicted by the artists, exploring the cultural richness and warmth that define the Filipino yuletide season.

The diverse audience, comprising members of the Filipino community and Canadians, appreciated the opportunity to learn about and celebrate the unique traditions of the Philippines. Guests were also treated to Filipino cuisine, complete with a rendition of Christmas songs by a Filipino friend of the artists.

Rey is the visionary behind the grassroots Timpuyog Arts Guild, which offers an arts mentorship program for youth in Metro Vancouver while Kaitlyn has embraced visual and auditory arts since childhood.  The exhibit will remain open to the public until 17 January 2024. END
