28 November 2023 – Consul General Arlene T. Magno graced the send off ceremony for the Rotary World Help (RWH) container of donations intended for Laoang, Northern Samar at the RWH warehouse in Coquitlam, BC. on 25 November 2023. The shipment contains educational books for elementary and high school students, as well as some computers, and hospital equipment, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs and other medical equipment. Consul General Magno toured the warehouse and witnessed the loading of items into the truck by Rotarian volunteers, after which she was invited to seal the container.
In her remarks during the program, Consul General Magno thanked the RWH, and the people behind it, whose vision and dedication to their mission have enabled them to reach communities around the globe and bring them much needed help. She particularly cited the amazing contribution of Elena Agala, one of their directors, whose admirable love for country and hard work has allowed the Philippines to be one of the biggest recipients of donations from RWH.
This is the 125th 40-foot container destined for the Philippines since 2000. Previously, the RWH has also collaborated with the Firefighters Without Border in donating five fire trucks and fire fighting equipment to various communities in the Philippines, including Cebu, Davao and Bohol.
RWH is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political charitable organization of Rotary Clubs in British Columbia. The organization collects and distributes medical equipment & supplies, dental, optical, education & sports equipment and disaster relief supplies to overseas recipients in need. END
