26 November 2024 - Three (3) officials from the Commission on Higher Education, together with 29 administrators, deans, and faculty scholars from both public and private Philippine Higher Educational Institutions (PHEIs), visited the Consulate on 25 November 2024. Consul Ericka Anna T. Abad, Head of the Economic Section, welcomed the delegation and conveyed Post’s support for CHED’s objective to strengthen the competencies of the faculty members of HEIs in the Philippines.
The PHEI scholars are in Vancouver to complete the program “Training of Trainers on Instruction and Delivery and Twinning Program in the Field of Aeronautics,” which is being conducted by the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) from 24 November to 07 December 2024, under CHED’s Local Graduate Scholarships Office’s (LGSO) Higher education Upskilling and Study for Advancement of Staff and Faculty (HUSAY) Program. The said program aims to strengthen the competencies of PHEIs’ personnel by ensuring quality of instruction, institutional service delivery and competitiveness.
Per Ms. Corinna Frances O. Cabanilla, Director-in-Charge of CHED’s Local Graduate Scholarships Office, the PHEI’ scholars will receive training from BCIT to upskill them on curriculum development and teaching methodology. The training will then facilitate the development of a twinning program on aviation between the BCIT and PHEIs and create pathways for post-graduate studies for the faculty members of the latter in the future.
The faculty scholars are from Air Link International Aviation College, Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology, DPR Aviation College, Flight Dynamics School of Aeronautics, Inc., Holy Angel University, Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA)-Main, Sapphire International Aviation Academy, World Citi Colleges (WCC) Aeronautical & Technological College, and WCC Aeronautical & Technological College-North Manila.
