Celebrating 75 Years of Philippines-Canada Diplomatic Relations

The Philippines and Canada celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this 2024.
Bilateral relations over the past 75 years have grown across all sectors - political, economic,
and cultural especially in recent years. This is evidenced by the increasingly broadening and
deepening engagements that include various ministerial visits, bilateral dialogues, trade and
energy missions, conclusion of education agreements, the signing of an agreement on defense
cooperation along with the participation of Canada in maritime patrols and the sharing of the
Canadian Dark Vessel Detection System to enhance maritime domain awareness. Further, both
countries enjoy strong people-to-people ties, especially with the presence of almost 1 million
Filipinos in Canada.
