Vancouver, 25 April 2023 - Consul General Arlene T. Magno and Consul Analyn Ratonel attended the official press conference announcing the 2023 competing teams for the Honda Celebration of Light (HCOL) on 24 April 2023 at the Concord Presentation Centre.
The Honda Celebration of Light is British Columbia’s largest public event and the longest-running offshore fireworks competition in the world. It attracts up to 400,000 spectators along the shores of English Bay each night.
The Philippines, represented by the Blue Peacock Fireworks, will compete for the first time at the HCOL. The Blue Peacock Fireworks is regarded as one of the Philippines' promising names in the pyrotechnic industry. It became part of history by culminating the 100th Philippine Independence Celebration and setting up a pyro-musical show using the SkyRanch Eye, the tallest Ferris wheel in the Philippines.
The 2023 competition will begin with the team representing Australia on July 22 (Saturday), followed by Mexico on July 26 (Wednesday), and the Philippines on July 29 (Saturday). The 2023 Honda Celebration of Light will feature pre-show entertainment, booths and food trucks leading up to the fireworks, including the Red Bull Air Show for all three nights. The winning team will be announced on 2 August 2023. END
