01 April 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver kicked off its 2024 consular outreaches with a visit to the largest city in the Northeast Region of British Columbia, Fort St. John (FSJ), on 22-23 March 2025. The two-day outreach was conducted with the assistance of Filipino volunteers based in the city.
Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin led the outreach team composed of Vice Consul Marco Harder, Ms. Lyra T. Ocampo, Ms. Irene Pilar T. Mendoza, Mr. Celso T. Magpile, Mr. Ruel E. Penaflorida, and Ms. Millecent Verceles. The outreach mission delivered a total of 309 services to approximately 200 by-appointment and walk-in clients during the weekend.
Messrs. Neil Justin A. Nicolas (MWO-Vancouver) and Mr Darwin Soria (SSS-Vancouver) also joined the Consulate team to attend to various queries on OEC issuance, contract verification, and queries on SSS membership and benefits.
In addition, the Vancouver PCG team also took the opportunity to conduct information sessions on overseas elections for those present to help them understand the conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections for registered overseas voters. The Consulate team covered timelines, requirements, and key activities for this year’s overseas voting and encouraged those listening to spread this information to their friends and family members who are eligible to vote this year as overseas voters.
Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin also encouraged clients to register in the Vancouver Emergency Response Mapping Registry (VERMAP) to ensure that the Consulate is able to reach out to Filipinos in Fort St. John and nearby areas in the Peace River Regional District during times of emergencies. END
