20 January 2025 – Consul Ericka Anna T. Abad represented the Consulate General of the Philippines in Vancouver during the 2025 Canadian Community Service Association’s (CCSA) Business Summit which was held at River Rock Fraser Room, Richmond, BC on 18 January 2025. The business summit was co-organized by CCSA, a non-profit, non-religious and non-political NGO in Canada that promotes communication and cooperation among various ethnic groups and communities, and FX168 Finance Group, a provider of global financial news, comprehensive economic data and real-time market updates.
In her opening remarks during the roundtable forum of the business summit, Consul Abad shared the Consulate’s perspective on economic cooperation and development. She informed the participants about the successful Team Canada Trade Mission to the Philippines in December 2024 that was organized by the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada, and is Canada’s biggest trade mission to date. She expressed hope that the Trade Mission has generated greater interests in the Philippines from companies and investors in Canada and emphasized the immense potential in enhancing partnerships between Filipino and Canadian businesses in the areas of technology, renewable energy, agriculture and creative industries.
Representatives from the Consulates of Malaysia, Indonesia and Laos also delivered remarks during the roundtable forum of the business summit. The roundtable forum also included keynote speeches on topics such as global economic and investment trends, AI-driven transformations in employment and real estate investment trends.
The event was attended by Canada-based Chinese companies and other financial institutions in Canada. END
