RICHMOND 27 November 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver joined the Filipino-Canadian community in an evening of celebration, recognition, and cultural pride at the Salamat: Gabi ng Parangal at Pagkilala held on 22 November 2024. Organized by the Pinoy Festival Alliance Society, this event gathered over 500 attendees, including elected officials, community leaders, and supporters, to honor the significant contributions of Filipino-Canadian organizations and volunteers.
In her remarks, Consul Analyn D. Ratonel commended the community for their contributions to the multicultural fabric of Canada. She highlighted the importance of unity and cultural pride, emphasizing how events like these strengthen bonds within the Filipino-Canadian community.
The evening served as a fitting culmination of two key milestones for the community in 2024. First, it recognized the success of the 2nd Annual Pinoy Festival: Panahon na para Magsaya (Come Join the Fun), held last June 22 in Burnaby. This cultural festival drew 30,000 attendees and showcased the richness of Filipino heritage through performances, booths, and interactive activities.
The event also celebrated the success of the Pinoy Band: Magbayanihan para sa Kababayan concert, held in October 2024. Through the collective efforts of volunteers and community members, the concert raised funds for the ABS-CBN Foundation International to support typhoon and flood victims in the Philippines.
The event featured award presentations and cultural performances that showcased the Philippines’ rich traditions and artistry. END
