New Westminster, 17 November 2024. Filipino documentary films “Unsurrendered 4: Gallantry in Mindanao” and "Unsurrendered 2: The Hunters ROTC Guerrillas" were featured in a film screening at the Queensborough Community Centre in New Westminster on 17 November 2024.
The two films, produced by Spyron-AV Manila, are part of a documentary film series commemorating the experiences of Filipino and allied soldiers during WWII in the Philippines.
“Unsurrendered 4: Gallantry in Mindanao”, the latest installment in the series, delves into the gallantry of individuals from Mindanao who played pivotal roles in the war effort, showcasing their sacrifices and patriotism.
"Unsurrendered 2: The Hunters ROTC Guerrillas", on the other hand, is a 53-minute documentary recounting the stories of the brave ROTC hunter guerillas, one of the first and youngest of the Philippine resistance fighters in the 20th century, who at the height of the Japanese occupation marked a unique resistance force to the invaders.
Ahead of the premiere, (Ret.) General Cirilito Sobejana, former Chief of Staff and Medal of Valor recipient, Mr. Lucky Guillermo and Mr. Ferdinand De Ocampo, the executives of Spyron AV Manila, together with Inarte Society President, Mr. Ryan Ferrer, paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate. During the call, they shared the inspiration behind the film and emphasized the importance of preserving and celebrating Filipino heritage through storytelling. END
