Philippines Hands Over the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Consulates General in Vancouver to Indonesia

14 June 2024, Vancouver – Philippine Consul General Arlene T. Magno handed over the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Consulates General in Vancouver (ACGV) Committee to Consul General Hendra Halim of Indonesia at a meeting held at the Philippine Consulate on 11 June 2024.

Consul General Magno highlighted the achievements and initiatives undertaken during her six-month term. Under the Philippines' stewardship, the ACGV successfully launched several key projects and activities aimed at raising the profile of ASEAN and enhancing cultural exchange among the various communities in Vancouver.  Some of the projects implemented were the ASEAN Book Donation to the Vancouver Public Library, ASEAN Table Tennis Tournament and the Tour of Surrey City with meetings with key officials and stakeholders.

Consul General Halim, the incoming Chair, outlined an agenda for the next term, spanning July to December 2024. The proposed programs focus on further strengthening community ties and promoting ASEAN's diverse cultures and heritage through a series of diplomatic and cultural events.

ACGV is comprised of five ASEAN Member States: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. END
