15 May 2024, Vancouver – The ASEAN Consulates General in Vancouver (ACGV) convened its 3rd meeting on 13 May 2024 at the Philippine Consulate.
The meeting, chaired by Philippine Consul General Arlene Magno, and attended by Consuls General and representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, discussed the forthcoming activities of the ACGV as well as financial and administrative matters such as rotation and arrivals.
The highlight of the meeting was a briefing by Dr. Randall Martin, Executive Director, and Elizabeth Brin, Director of External Relations, of the BC Council for International Education (BCCIE). Dr. Martin and Ms. Brin provided a presentation on the mandate and activities of BCCIE, emphasizing its commitment to fostering international education opportunities and partnerships. They discussed BCCIE’s role in supporting the internationalization of education in British Columbia, facilitating student mobility, and promoting global partnerships in education.
Dr. Martin said that BCCIE is dedicated to creating bridges between British Columbia and international education communities. He also shared information on the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) Consortium, which promotes student exchanges among more than 200 colleges and universities in 25 countries in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the upcoming activities of the BCCIE, including the BC International Education Week (BCIEW), which is taking place in Vancouver in June 2024. END
