19 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver hosted a media launch of the 3rd Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada (FRMC) on 15 March 2024 at Post’s Consular lobby.
Six (6) restaurants in Metro Vancouver joined the media launch, which brought together members from the British Columbia Consular Corps and the Filipino community. The event was covered by OMNI News, ABS-CBN-TFC and Dahong Pilipino.
The afternoon commenced with opening remarks by Philippine Consul General Arlene Magno who encouraged everyone to embrace and savor the flavors of the Philippines, explore new tastes and forge lasting connections through the shared experience of food. This was followed by video messages from Philippine Ambassador to Canada Maria Andrelita Austria and Department of Tourism, further emphasizing the significance of promoting Filipino cuisine on the global stage.
As attendees savored the flavors of the Philippines, they were reminded that this was just a taste of what's to come throughout the entire month of April. With participating restaurants across Canada set to feature prix fixe menus showcasing the best of Filipino cuisine, food lovers are in for a treat during the Filipino Restaurant Month in Canada.
This year, a total of nine restaurants from British Columbia will participate in the FRMC. Seven are located in Metro Vancouver, namely: Grandt Kitchen, Plato Filipino, Smokehouse Sandwich Restaurant, Pampanga’s Cuisine, Shameless Buns, Max’s Restaurant and Goldilocks Canada, while Flavours 8 and Audielicious Restaurant are based in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, respectively.
FRMC is part of Philippine Posts in Canada’s Common Cultural Calendar, spearheaded by the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, in partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism – San Francisco and Department of Trade and Industry. Diners who will visit any of the participating restaurants will have a chance to win local and national prizes. END
