Philippine Consul General Dr. Gina Jamoralin Pays Courtesy Call on the Mayor of Burnaby, BC

VANCOUVER, 05 February 2025 – On 04 February 2025, Philippine Consul General Dr. Gina A. Jamoralin, who assumed office in November 2024, paid a courtesy call on Mayor Mike Hurley of Burnaby at the latter’s office.  Mayor Hurley was accompanied by key city officials, by City Councillors James Wang and Maita Santiago, the latter being of Filipino descent.

The meeting highlighted the vibrant contributions of Filipinos in Burnaby and British Columbia, as well as ongoing efforts to enhance cultural, economic, and community ties.  Discussions covered a range of topics, including immigration policy changes, initiatives supporting the Filipino community, and potential city partnerships with the Philippines.

The officials also explored opportunities for cultural and economic exchanges, reinforcing Burnaby’s commitment to diversity and global engagement.  Consul General Jamoralin extended an invitation for city officials to visit the Philippines, further strengthening the bridge between communities. END
